The Keeper Springs Mobile Tour headed up to Boston for a few BJ’s Wholesale Club stops. First up was the Stoughton store, which got to spin our prize wheel on Thursday. Though it was a weekday, the beautiful, warm and clear weather had lots of people out and about getting their shopping done. We were able to park our truck front and center of the entrance for everyone to see! Unfortunately, there was a landfill right across the parking lot, so our view wasn’t a great one. However, it did bring up a lot of conversations about waste reduction, which we were pleased to see was on the minds of so many people. We love to hear how families and individuals are trying to diminish their footprint on the environment—even the little things count! As we continued through the area to BJ’s Clubs in Medford and Revere, we also heard lots of voices urging the state to expand the bottle bill to cover plastic water bottles, not just carbonated beverages. We love to see that stronger recycling legislation is definitely on many minds in Boston.
Sunday, we set up at the Weld Exhibition at the Head of the Charles Regatta. We spent the day spreading the message of Keeper Springs and fundraising for the Massachusetts Baykeeper, who stopped by to talk to folks, too! Hundreds of people didn’t know what a Keeper was—well we informed them with no problem. Of course the excitement of the Regatta had everyone in a good mood, but we’re sure that donating to such a great cause had something to do with it, too!
