On Saturday, The Keeper Springs Mobile Tour headed to Quincy to help out with the Massachusetts Baykeeper’s Nickerson Beach/Squaw Rock Clean-Up. We supplied water and shade to nearly 30 volunteers who showed up to lend a hand and clear the mess on the beach. We also gave a “goodie bag” to each volunteer, which included one of our totes, a few pens, a “Demand Recycling” bumper sticker, and a t-shirt. About a third of the volunteers were local high school students who were very interested in environmentalism (good for them!)—they really loved our “swag” made from recycled plastic! The Baykeeper and the volunteers really did a great job of cleaning up the area and recording some valuable information and data that aids in preventing other messes. It was a chilly, but beautiful day, and we were so happy to help these hard workers!
We were also excited to help out at the Buzzards Baykeeper Coalition’s Watershed Ride on Sunday. We brought our truck and trailer to the 75-mile and 35-mile starts to wish the riders good luck and safe cycling! They saw us again at the finish line party, where they could stop by our tent with a table full of Keeper Springs bottles, pens, and bumper stickers. It was great to see strong supporters for the Coalition, riding and fundraising for a cause we also stand for!
We were glad to be a part of both events with the keepers! We’ll be back in the Boston area this week for a few stops at BJ’s Wholesale Clubs. Find us at the Stoughton location on Thursday, the Medford store on Friday, and the Revere BJ’s on Saturday. We’ll also be at the Head of The Charles Regatta on Sunday.
Be sure to follow along on Twitter and Facebook, too! And remember, if you snap a shot of our truck on the road, we’ll get you a Keeper Springs prize pack!
